Why Waiting Until AFTER the Holidays is the WORST…

We all know that the holidays can bring about immense stress. Some of which we create based on unrealistic expectations that we put on ourselves to deliver the most magnificent meals, gifts, and decor, and some of it can just be a heavy (and sad) time of year.

As much as I love the holidays, it used to be a time that I ALWAYS struggled with. It was a time that made me feel lonely, stressed, and pulled in a million directions. It was also a time that felt triggering due to the various “holiday indulgences” that tended to take place.

A few years back I had a realization that I was carrying around a “BELIEF” that the holidays had to be a stressful time for me when it came to my health goals.  Once I identified this unhelpful belief, I was able to shift my perspective, AND shift the way that I maneuvered the holidays.

I also realized that having support during this time of the year was so beneficial for me! This was also the time when I stopped the “I’ll wait until after the New Year to start (insert goal) mentality.” And when I did this, I noticed a huge shift.

So I wanted to share a few things to help shift your perspective as we enter this holiday season:

  • The holidays are really only a few days, it’s not really a reason to not choose health during the entire holiday season.

  • For many people, the stress of the holidays actually creates more health problems and inflammation, so why wouldn’t you have more support during a season that is asking so much from you?

  • Wouldn’t it be amazing if you felt empowered during this time to know exactly HOW to maneuver your health and nutrition during this time? Including enjoying the things you really want to enjoy.

  • Wouldn’t it feel great to have tools that you could use for those times where you feel overwhelmed and/or dysregulated?

  • What if you could easily identify boundaries and know when to say “No”?

  • When you really think about it, waiting to start working towards your goals (because you are in a state of fear and worry) actually sets you back 2-4 months!

Maybe it’s time for a different approach to the holiday season? One that can set you up with the tools and mindset that will keep you on target well beyond the new year!!
